Ties
Last year, I wore a tie exactly three times. These were all in the last week of the year. I’m already 2/3 of the way to that metric for 2011, although to be fair, I rarely have an occasion to wear one. Still, it’s nice to be able to do in the evening sometimes (wearing one to work is pretty much strictly verboten - well not strictly, but it would be weird).
Anyhow, as I have a wedding to go to next month, I decided to get something approximating a wedding tie to wear to it. Internet searches said that thetiebar.com was my best bet, and they indeed had a silk, glen plaid skinny tie. Skinny is good, since my suit skews towards that (as do I). But I went with the 3” option which I think is a good middle ground.
I also picked up a couple of pocket squares, and a trio of silk knot pairs. I am thinking of maybe dandying the silk know in the button hole - but we’ll see.
I’ll post more about the suit soon, once I get it back from the cleaners, where it is getting pressed.
